Why do face exercises work?
When you talk, frown or laugh the movements are all made by facial muscles. How long does it take to see an improvement?
If you do the exercises 5 times per week, it will take three to four weeks to see a definite improvement. The muscles must be worked hard enough to rebuild, and as with any exercise routine, this takes time. After three months, the improvements should be marked enough for you to reduce the workout to around 3 times a week. It is usual to continue to see improvements over a longer period, although they will be less obvious. Taking photos to monitor your own progress is a good idea even after you have finished the three-month program.
Is Faceworks only for women?

How much will Faceworks change my face?

Will the exercises cause more wrinkles to develop?
Each exercise has been designed to minimise this risk. In trial subjects the improvement in muscle size, tone and general circulation that Faceworks achieved made existing lines less obvious. What causes ageing of the skin?
Young skin has an abundance of elastic connective fibres and a natural protective layer of fat under the skin. As we age, both diminish so that the top layers of the epidermis lose their supporting structure. The results are lines, slightly looser skin and a gradual change in the shape of the face.
Can the muscles be built up too much?
Muscles build gradually and as the cells enlarge and not multiply there is a limit to the growth possible. Doing Faceworks as instructed will not overdevelop facial muscles.
What happens if I stop doing the exercises regularly?
Muscles only retain size and tone if they are used. If the exercises are stopped the muscles will eventually return to their previous condition. A month is probably the longest you could go before the benefits decline.
Can I do more of one exercise than another?
After you have been doing the exercises for a while and the muscles are used to working, you can add to the sequence. One of advantages of Faceworks is that if you have a special date coming up, you can increase your workouts or just target your 'problem' areas. Space the extra exercises through the day to prevent muscle strain. The eye and lip exercises are great for times where you need an instant boost.
I’ve noticed that some exercises contract muscles and others stretch them. Why is this?
The upper part of the face is where most 'rebuilding' is needed. As muscles slacken, they drop. The distance between the nose and chin actually gets smaller as we age. Cosmetic surgeons also document what they call the 'reverse triangle' effect. When we are young, the widest part of the triangle is across the cheeks and the point lies on the centre of the chin, in an upside down position. With age the triangle reverses: the widest point of the face becomes the chin and jowls and the point is at the nose.
Faceworks therefore builds up the structure on the top half of the face with exercises that contract the muscles. This results in bigger muscles that physically lift the whole face. Exercises for the lower face stretch and tone, rather than build more bulk, as usually it is not needed here unless the face is very thin.
Why does my face look different just after I have done Faceworks?
The exercises increase the blood supply to the face and neck. Because muscles work harder, they need more oxygen and glucose. The increase in circulation causes facial tissue to become plumper for a short time after doing the workout. This is beneficial for all layers of the skin, as cell renewal and repair become more efficient. Improvements to the complexion are usually the first changes noted.
