Faceworks: in detail

Faceworks uses exercises designed specifically for the face to work both superficial and deep muscles.

Since face-working is a natural procedure it takes time for results to appear, but usually after two weeks there are definite changes.  The eyes are more sparkling, skin begins to bloom, and the expression is happier as contours start to lift.

The first three months is where the biggest changes are made: an intensive 5 times a week workout rebuilds the muscles, dramatically improving their tone and lifting them to a more youthful position.  At the end of this time the number of weekly workouts drops to 3: a total time of only one hour a week.  You may still notice changes at this level: continual lifting of jowls and cheek muscles for example.  And if you need a boost for a special occasion, you can just increase the workouts, or do more of the exercises for your own ‘problem’ areas.

Young skin has a protective layer of fat and an abundance of elastic connective fibres.  As both decline with age the skin loosens, forming lines and wrinkles.  Normal expressions and facial movements don’t work the muscles enough to prevent them stretching and drooping, which changes the shape of the face.  Faceworks uses small, precise movements to work specific muscles harder than usual.  The exercises build up muscles to compensate for the loss of elasticity and fatty layer, making lines and wrinkles less obvious as the skin smoothes out.

One of the very welcome but unexpected effects of Faceworks during its development was the changes in the skin.  In trials, improvement in skin tone was one of the first changes noted.  As the exercises increase circulation, the skin is supplied with more nutrients from the blood and the removal of waste products is faster.  The skin becomes rosier, softer and smoother.  Eye puffiness and dark shadows diminish so that the tiredness that imprints on our faces as we age fades away.
